Another wave of fake American Express security emails phishing for your personal information

Just in the recent days, I have received a large number of emails (most are not even addressed to me) that represents a small drop in millions of fraudulent, phishing emails that are circulating the web, hitting unsuspecting users’ email inboxes. I have inquired with few of my friends and colleagues, and searched the interned and discovered that there is a rise of activity for these fake American Express emails. So I just wanted to share with you this example of how legitimate the fraudulent email may look, and remind us to be on the lookout for the emails like this – do not click on their links, and do not follow their instructions.

When in doubt, instead of clicking on any links in the email, call the phone number on the back of your credit card and speak directly with the card authority.

And, actually, most of the creditors CALL YOU to alert you of the issue. So email looks suspicious, by default.

Here is the verbiage from that fake email: doesn’t it look legit? Don’t fall for it.
